Amanda
I’m Amanda and I’m powering through my 27th year. This blog is becoming my place for random things. We’ll see how it goes. Started as a food focus, then vegan focus, now just a me focus.
I have been vegetarian since May 2006 after an unassuming reading of Skinny Bitch – I instantly knew this diet was for me. I think that’s a pretty important fact to know. Animal compassion strikes a chord with me.
I live at home with my boyfriend, D, and our two cats Veruca and Edgar. I try to balance work, working out (yoga mostly), cooking, and D. Not always so easy, but all parts important in keeping me happy.

I just stumbled on your blog and I love all of the great ideas! I am fairly new to being a vegan and at times I eat the same thing over and over. =)

Amanda! I know you can do it! I am so happy for you to be on this healthy journey!
Six years ago I was a carb/dairy/egg-aholic vegetarian. Six years later, I’m a happy vegan! I love yoga and running too and also struggle with maintaining a routine. I recently read Born to Run by Christopher McDougall and was completely inspired to start running very regularly in a way that prevents injury. A couple of months into it and I am doing great!
At any rate, my hubby Mark and I at Irreverent Vegan totally support you and wish you well! Let us know if you have any special requests to veganize a specific food. We love a good challenge!
Take care!

Thank you Amy! So far I’m going pretty strong, and def. keep myself 100% at home and all meals I make. I’m going to have to check that book out, thanks for sharing, because not being able to run is completely disheartening. I’ll let you know if I come up with a good dinner I can’t seem to veganize!

Are you going to the GREEN AMERICA festival in DC in October?
I think it is a great way to spread your message and your food.
Since you have ALL these foods, do you have a recipe book coming soon?
Thanks,
John

I love your blog!!
I also read Skinny Bitch and The Kind Diet myself. I became vegan about 2 months ago and Skinny Bitch started me on this lifestyle.. but i follow The Kind Diet’s principles more. Eating a whole grain and legume at every meal then adding in fruits and veggies! Good for you girl

Hey there! I happened upon your blog from a link on Andrea’s east vegan cooking and I couldn’t believe how much we seemed to have in common. I am a vegan as well (4 and 1/2 years), transitioned from a vegetarian (since 9th grade in high school), transitioned from the standard diet. I actually went vegetarian because I had high cholesterol and then eventually vegan when I cuoldn’t hand my stomach’s constant protesting. I was born in New Jersey but now live in South Florida. And I am also a Speech Pathologist. Anyway, I never really leave comments, but felt like I wanted to say hi and say that I am glad that I found your blog. Hope you have a nice day. Being vegan is great. I love it!

Hi, Love your blog. I happened upon it while looking for something related to Woodstock Animal Farm. I am tyring to become vegan and have been vegetarian since 2006. I also read Skinny Bitch and loved it. I know your so right about all the carb and cheese and fat. Why would I ever think that was a healthy cruel free way to eat? I can’t bury my head any longer I am really trying to become vegan. I am going to keep reading your blog for inspiration. I also love yoga! Thanks for your insight. So cool.
